Well, I'm going to have to agree with most of the other reviews of Sex and the City 2: It kind of stunk.
You have one of the best shows on television; A fresh, funny show about four single women who are best friends looking for love in NYC. It was a brilliant show. The characters were so multi-dimensional and they all went through great story lines.
The first movie was great because it was a logical conclusion to the series: Big and Carrie get married, everyone is happy.
This movie was just so boring and was really just an excuse to make a big movie with a big budget. Nothing really happened. It was about how Carrie missed being single and didn't want to be a boring wife. Even her new book in the movie sucked, because it wasn't about Carrie looking for love it was about Carrie being boring. It would have been a good 30 minute episode of the show, not a 2 and a half hour movie.
The bottom line is that 3 of these women are married, 2 have kids and one is Samantha. Did we really need a sequel? Their story lines have all ended! The reason they ended the series when they did was because they wanted to end on top, and now look what they did! Sure, the movie is making a ton a money, but that's only because people love these characters. The movie was just so boring and kind of pointless. I don't really care about their lives now because it's not relevant. Somehow these women are all living glitzy lives despite the economy and they all have great relationships. Wasn't that covered in the last movie?
If you're a fan, just rent it. It's always fun to see more a show that you love. It wasn't terrible, it was just pointless and way too long.
Spencer and Heidi have split up! Maybe because they're both crazy and he's even crazier. She supposedly left him, which is probably the only smart idea she's had in the last 4 years. I hope this is true and the two of them fade away.

Funny, kind of weird, very film noir, very cryptic. Check it out.

And he was adorable when he won!
Was it just me or was the finale catered for an older generation: Chicago, Alanis Morisette, Hall and Oates, Joe Cocker, Alice Cooper, Michael McDonald etc
Janet Jackson was awesome!
I'm surprised Crystal didn't win, but it really could have been either one of them. Crystal is still going to be plenty successful.
Oh, and I loved all the tributes to Simon. Especially when all the former contestants were on stage.
Dane Cook was awful.
Pants on the Ground + William Hung = Instant Classic
I'm a huge fan, so I got all the info you need if you want to see the movie without seeing all the seasons. Let's break this down by characters:
Carrie: Carrie was a single lady living in NYC. Throughout the show she had 4 major boyfriends, 2 of which are in the sequel: Big and Aidan. She is currently married to Big.
Carrie and Big: Carrie and Big dated in the first season and broke up. They got back together in the second only to break up again, and by the end of the season Big was engaged to someone else. In the third season she dated Aidan and fell in love, but soon fell into the arms of Big and had an affair with him while she was with Aidan and he was still married. His wife soon finds out about the affair and they get divorced. Carrie and Big now are on bad terms, but by the end of the season they decide the remain friends. In season 4 they are only friends. In season 5, Carrie has a dry spell and sleeps with Big...but as a friend. In season 6, Big realizes that Carrie is "the one" and sweeps her off her feet in Paris. In the first movie they intend to get married, he stands her up at the alter, and in the end they get married.
Carrie and Aidan: Carrie and Aidan dated in season 3 and broke up because he could not forgive her for the affair. In season 4 they reconnect because he co-owns a bar with Miranda's ex(now husband) Steve, and they decide to date again. They even get engaged, but Carries decides she's not the marrying type and he breaks up with her. The run into each other on the street in Season 6 and he is married and has a baby. That is the last time he is seen.
Miranda: She is living in Brooklyn and married to Steve, they have a baby Brady. They have been an on and off couple since season 2, and almost broke up for good in the last movie.
Charlotte: She is married to Harry and lives in NYC. She currently has 2 daughters, Lily and Rose.
Samantha: Samantha was always the slut, but in season 6 she fell in love with Smith and moved out to LA with him in the movie. In the end of the movie she breaks up with Smith realizing she wants to be in NYC and not in a relationship.
Stanford: He is Carrie's gay BFF. In season 5 and 6 he had a boyfriend, but apparently was single in the movie. He kissed Anthony at a New Years Eve Party.
Anthony: He is Charlotte's gay BFF and former wedding planner. He was once tried to be set up with Stanford, but the two did not click. Well, it looks as though they're getting married in the sequel...
That should be it. Of course there is a lot more back story, but I don't think you'll need it in order to understand the movie.

Ian McKellan explaining acting is one my favorite things to watch and quote.
It's no Adam/Kris finale, and quite frankly I don't really care who wins this less than spectacular season, but I do think Crystal is going to win. I do have one question:
Although I'm not totally disappointed, why is the winner's song a cover? Lee picked "Beautiful Day" and Crystal picked "Up the Mountain". I usually think the winner gets a crappy song as their first single, but they made no mention of how this is a new thing. I'm thankful because last year's "no boundaries" was awful, but still. I thought it was really random.
I'm just excited to see what celebrities pop up on the results show tomorrow.
When will these Disney tweens learn they shouldn't date, or gush about one another because a break up is always inevitable. Poor Demi. Joe's dad apparently called and broke up for him...that's mature. Well, now she and Taylor Swift have more things to talk about.

Last night, I and a bunch of my friends sat down in front of the television, had some Dharma beer and watched the culmination of our favorite show.
It seems like a lot of people were confused, so let me clear up what I got from it:
The flash sideways this season is all a kind of Heaven where all the Lost characters went when they died. They all got there at different times. What's great about that is all the characters got to be reunited, no matter when they actually passed away. A lot of people seem to think that this meant that both story lines were all fake and that the island didn't happen...that is not true at all. The island did happen, and when the season opened post bomb on the island it was a continuation of what had been happening the whole series. The flash sideways could be considered pointless, but it was also a very sweet alternate reality where some characters could be who they wanted to be (ie Jack had a son, Kate was innocent, Sawyer was a cop etc). A lot of people also complained that Michael and Walt weren't in the "heaven", but Michael is on the island as a lost spirit(Remember?), and it would be weird if Walt was there and Michael wasn't.
What is the island? Well that was never fully explained other than what Jacob said in the second to last episode. It's some island that contains light that needs to be protected otherwise the world is destroyed? Sure. Hurley and Ben went on to protect the island after Jack died, and I'd love to see that as a sitcom.
Sure, not everything was explained, but the general idea of it was. It was a great finale, and I'm very happy with it. I cried so hard when characters remembered each other, even Shannon who I hated. (Did anyone else think it was weird that Sayid went on to live eternity with Shannon and not Nadia?)
Overall, it was great. Yes, I wish more things were explained, but I don't feel cheated or disappointed.
Now what do I watch?
Last night, while everyone was watching Lost, Bret Michaels became the third winner of Celebrity Apprentice despite being in the hospital recently and nearly dying. He beat out Holly Robinson Peete of Hanging with Mr. Cooper. Congrats.

Caroline Dhavernas (whom Speakeasy loved in “Wonderfalls”) stars as idealistic Dr. Lily Brenner, whose cohorts include young doctors played by martin Henderson, Enrique Murciano, and Mamie Gummer (aka Meryl Streep’s daughter).
“Mr. Sunshine” — Matthew Perry stars as Ben Donovan, the self-involved manager of a second-rate San Diego sports arena who begins to re-evaluate his life on his 40th birthday. Allison Janney co-stars as his boss and arena owner, Crystal. The pilot was co-written by Mr. Perry and was directed by Thomas Schlamme.
“Happy Endings” – After Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) break up, they face the inevitable question: who gets to keep the friends?
...because Charlie Sheen got a massive pay raise. Since the show wasn't going to go on without him, CBS worked out a deal with Sheen so the show can continue for two more seasons. But after all the drama, is it even worth it?
Warning: Contains all spoilers from last night's episode
So..here's everything that happened.
1. Nate and Serena broke up..thank goodness.
2. Serena and Dan have rediscovered feelings for each other which will also lead into a break up with Vanessa...another thank goodness.
3. Jenny lost her virginity to Chuck!
4. Jenny has moved from Manhattan to live with her mom because she is an obnoxious bitch.
5. Georgina is back! and is pregnant! with a child she claims is Dan's.
6. Chuck got shot in the last moments of the show.
Total game changer! Way to put all the good moments into the finale in what was for the most part a very boring season. Can't wait until Fall!

arnettwill I must admit I'm very happy at this moment...
This has to be good! If it's anything like Arrested Development I will be very happy.
Sad! It was inevitable since it barely got renewed for last season and it got pushed from 10:30 to Midnight. I'm sure the whole cast will find something else to do. Perhaps a live show? I'd see that!
Okay, there's only ONE episode before the finale. And this is what we found out last night: Jacob and the Man in Black are brothers! Also, Alison Janney was their crazy adopted mother who the Man in Black killed after she and Jacob killed the man in black's new tribe. Confused?? It seems like crazy Allison Janney and Jacob contributed to MIB evilness, and that he was a good guy until his tribe was destroyed. All he wanted, and still wants, is to get off the island. Jacob sent him into the "light" and that's how he became the smoke monster. They also don't age but can be killed, which is very confusing. AND Allison Janney and the MIB are Adam and Eve from Season 1, not Rose and Bernard which is what so many people predicted. How is this all gonna wrap up?????
Also, this is cool:
Here's the short review, because Babies was a short movie.
Babies stars babies and is about...babies. There is no actual substance to this movie. It is basically watching someone's home movies for 80 minutes. Sure, babies are very cute, everyone loves babies. But there's no voice over, no interview, no story line. It's like when you watched Wall-E before there was any dialogue in it; it was cute but if it kept going like that you would lose interest. In the end you almost feel creepy for watching these babies just hanging out not doing anything. And you would think that because these four babies live in different areas that it would be a commentary on culture and how babies are raised...but no. Just babies sleeping, eating(UGH! The breastfeeding!), playing, learning to crawl, learning to walk, learning to talk etc. Save your money and just babysit your friend's kid if you want to watch a baby for an hour.

So I got to see the midnight screening of Iron Man 2 with a bunch of comic book nerds wearing Iron Man t-shirts and home made costumes of the superhero himself. This is what I personally thought of the movie:
For starters I thought that Robert Downey Jr was incredible. The man can do no wrong acting wise. He is Tony Stark, he is Iron Man, he is human being, he is a superhero. His performance is what made the movie for me. However, I was not as big of a fan of the sequel as I was the original. That does not mean in any way that I thought IM2 was a bad movie, because it wasn't. It just felt to me that something was missing.
Perhaps it was the lack luster acting of the supporting characters. Both women, Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johannsen, were not very good. Not to say that these women are bad actresses, because they definitely are not. I just think in general male directors have an issue directing women. It just doesn't make sense that an Academy Award winner would be so boring and awful that I just wanted her to leave the scene. I thought Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell were great as villians, especially Rourke, but neither one of them had that much screen time. And then there's Don Cheadle, who replaced Terrance Howard, who I also thought was very boring and dry. Maybe everyone just didn't seem as impressive compared to Robert Downey Jr?
The plot was a lot of fun. I mean it's a fun, action movie. What it was missing for me was story. I missed learning about Tony Stark and his adventure in becoming a superhero. It just followed the same superhero sequel formula where there's a new bad guy and a new love interest. I just wanted more from it. Maybe I am being naive in thinking it could have been more, but after seeing movies like the Dark Knight and Kick Ass I feel like superhero movies need to kick it up a notch.

So I saw Iron Man 2(review to come when I have more time), and in front of it was the much hyper Super 8 trailer from director JJ Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg. It is not Cloverfield 2, it is an alien movie about something that was transported from Area 51 and escapes. It looks cool, but the teaser was very vague. It left a lot to the imagination which is good for the movie because that will only generate more hype. I'm always happy with Abrams, so I have a good feeling about it.
Well, it was kind of inevitable but 17 year old Aaron Kelly has been kicked off American Idol. Did you know that he won the American Idol contest in Disney and that's how he got to the auditions in the first place? I think that's pretty impressive. Next weeks theme is songs from movies with mention Jaime Foxx. I'm pretty sure I've seen that episode before.

Oops! Julia Louis-Dreyfus received her star on the Walk of Fame which is a huge honor, but they spelt her name wrong. It says Julia Luis Dreyfus. No hyphen, no "o". Poor Julia. At least they fixed it quickly and she laughed about it. Someone is in trouble...
So whoever is a fan of Lost definitely had their heart broken last night. Three main characters: Sayid, Jin & Sun all tragically died. Not to mention Frank Lapides was killed, Kate got shot and Sawyer is barely conscious. WTF? I am so sad that Jin and Sun finally got reunited only to be killed within 24 hours. At least all 3 are still alive in the flash sideways.
The finale, which is now 2 and a half hours long, is going to be legendary.
